This product is a ballast rack designed to add ballast to a flat-roof photovoltaic system fitted with the FlatFix Fusion system. This device secures the installation against wind by adding ballast at strategic points, whilst maintaining the integrity and lightness of the overall structure.

IMPORTANT: It is essential to select the correct model based on the dimensions of your panels and to provide one ballast rack per panel.

This rack is installed directly onto the structure and can accommodate various types of ballast (e.g. gravel, concrete slabs or bricks). The product is available in four models to fit the length of your modules perfectly:

  • Model 1600: For panels from 1500 to 1690 mm
  • Model 1700: For panels from 1580 to 1800 mm
  • Model 1900: For panels from 1800 to 1990 mm
  • Model 2000: For panels from 1990 to 2190 mm

Technical specifications

  • Compatible system: FlatFix Fusion (flat roofs only)
  • Function: Ballast support for aerodynamic stability
  • Installation: One ballast rack per panel (1:1)
  • Material: High corrosion resistance

FlatFix Fusion ballast mounting system: maximum safety for photovoltaic installations on flat roofs (Models 1600 / 1700 / 1900 / 2000)

Rack de lestage FlatFix Fusion pour lestage gravier et dalles béton - compatible Trina Solar, Q-Cells, JNL

The FlatFix Fusion ballast rack is the key component ensuring the stability of your solar installations on flat roofs. In a ballasted mounting system, weight management is crucial: this bracket allows the necessary load (ballast) to be concentrated exactly where the system’s aerodynamics require it, thereby guaranteeing protection against uplift forces caused by strong winds.

Made from high-tech steel, this bracket is designed to last as long as your solar panels. It offers a clean and professional solution for integrating ballast without compromising the integrity of the roof or the thermal efficiency of the modules.

Why choose the FlatFix Fusion ballast rack?

Unlike heavy traditional mounting systems, the FlatFix Fusion relies on a lightweight structure and intelligent weight distribution. The ballast rack allows for:

  • Optimal load distribution: the ballast is strategically placed to avoid localised overloading on your roof’s waterproofing membrane.
  • Versatile ballasting: you can use different materials depending on local availability: gravel, concrete slabs, bricks or paving stones.
  • Exceptional durability: the steel used offers superior resistance to corrosion and extreme weather conditions.

Sizing guidelines and compatibility

Important note: to ensure the validity of the warranty and the stability of the structure, always provide one ballast rack per photovoltaic panel installed.

It is essential to select the model that precisely matches the dimensions of your modules. An incorrect selection could compromise the system’s interlocking:

  • Model 1600 (range from 1500 to 1690 mm): specifically calibrated for compact panels such as the JNL 280/300 series, Hanover 320, or the Hyundai 345.
  • Model 1700 (range from 1580 to 1800 mm): the standard for residential modules such as the HT-SAAE Jupiter 450Wp, Leapton 450Wp, Aiko and others....
  • Model 1900 (range from 1800 to 1990 mm): suitable for new wide-format panels such as Luxen 500Wc, Leapton 500Wc and Jolywood 500Wc
  • Model 2000 (range from 1990 to 2190 mm): designed for very large-format industrial modules.

Installation and implementation

Installation of the ballast support is part of the seamless FlatFix Fusion system. The rack clips into place and is secured directly between the structure’s uprights, creating a sturdy cradle ready to hold the ballast. This method avoids any drilling into the roof, thus preserving your building’s perfect waterproofing.

Technical specifications

  • Roof type: flat roof (bitumen, EPDM, PVC).
  • Structural compatibility: only with the FlatFix Fusion system.
  • Material: high-tensile galvanised steel.
  • Configuration: 1 unit per panel (1:1 ratio).

FAQ - FlatFix Fusion ballast bracket

1. What exactly is the ballast rack used for in the FlatFix system? +
On a flat roof, the waterproofing membrane is not pierced. The ballast rack acts as a “cradle” to hold the weight (ballast). It keeps the structure anchored to the ground using gravity, thereby preventing the solar panels from lifting or sliding due to strong winds.
2. How many ballast racks do I need for my installation? +
The basic rule for optimum stability and to ensure the warranty remains valid is to provide one ballast rack per photovoltaic panel. This 1:1 ratio ensures that each module has its own weighted anchor point.
3. How do I choose the right model (1600, 1700, 1900 or 2000)? +
The choice depends on the length of your solar panel. The rack must match the centre-to-centre distance of the structure. For example, the 1700 model is the most common for standard residential panels (Leapton, Aiko, Jupiter), whilst the 1900 or 2000 is reserved for very large industrial panels.
4. What types of materials can be used for ballasting? +
The rack is versatile. You can use standard concrete slabs (often 30x30 cm), gravel, bricks or paving stones. The key is to adhere to the total ballast weight recommended by your site survey based on your wind zone.
5. Can the ballast rack damage my flat roof? +
No, as it is designed to distribute loads. Furthermore, in the FlatFix Fusion system, the components do not come into direct ‘aggressive’ contact with the roof. The load is distributed to prevent punctures in the bitumen, EPDM or PVC.
6. Is it corrosion-resistant? +
Absolutely. The rack is made from high-quality galvanised steel. This heat treatment provides long-lasting protection against rust and harsh outdoor weather conditions throughout the lifetime of your solar installation.
